Physics is a highly respected A level which builds superior analysis and problem solving skills. Physics can lead to careers in research, education, industry and finance. Physics is also seen as valuable for employment in many other fields ranging from medicine to management. The course is divided into topics, each covering different key concepts in Physics. Topics include Measurements and their errors, Particles and Radiation, Waves, Mechanics and materials and Electricity. Topics which are only assessed in A Level are Further Mechanics and Thermal Physics, Fields, Nuclear and Astrophysics.

What you need to get on

5 x grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths. Grade 5/5 in Combined Science (Higher Tier) or grade 5 in Physics and Chemistry. Grade 5 in Maths. If being studied alongside a second A Level Science, Grade 6/6 in Combined Science (Higher tier) or grade 6 in Chemistry and Physics. Core maths is strongly recommended to be taken alongside this subject, if Maths A level is not studied.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
