A Level Music is an incredible academic and challenging subject but, if you love music, it is the course for you. A Level Music encompasses every aspect of being a good musician from performing and designing the optimum programme, to composing and analysing music. In addition to being an accomplished performer, composer and practical musician, you should also be interested in studying the history of music from a range of periods and styles. There is a range of Higher Education courses along with careers in the music industry such as Military Musician, Music Teacher, Performer, and Music Technician. Universities value students who can participate in their ensembles.
What you need to get on
• 5 GCSEs grades A* - C/9 to 4 including English and Mathematics • Grade 7 in GCSE Music is desirable • Grade 5 and above in any musical instrument or performance • Grade 5 and above in theory
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
