What the college says
Studying the Subject - The AS Level specification builds on the skills developed in GCSE Music. Students will extend their performance and composition skills whilst also developing their listening and analytical skills by studying a variety of pieces of music from the areas of study. The course has two areas of study: instrumental music and vocal music and encourages students to study a wide range of music from different styles. In addition, a small number of set works are studied in detail.
What you need to get on
Subject specific entry requirements - Students should have achieved Grade B in Music and approximately Grade V practical level. This varied and exciting course requires the study and performance of a wide range of music, but also caters for individual strengths and interests. It is essential, however, that students should have a real enjoyment of music!
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
