"Why choose to study Mathematics?: You study mathematics because you enjoy solving problems and getting a definitive answer to a problem. There are lots of new areas to study which will keep your interest levels high. Maths is also one of the biggest facilitating subjects and its essential for many higher education courses and careers. What will I study?: There are 3 strands to the course; Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics. Pure develops the Algebraic work from GCSE and introduces new areas such as Calculus whilst Statistics encompasses Statistical Distributions and Probability Theory. Mechanics is the study of the physical world and includes forces and momentum. Your knowledge and skills in Mathematical argument, language and proof, problem solving and modelling will be further developed. What skills will I develop?: You will see the links between different areas of maths and be able to apply your maths skills across all areas. Opportunities: These include; UKMT Individual and Team challenges, The National Cipher Challenge, Maths Fest attendance, Ritangle Competition amongst other enrichment activities.

What you need to get on

Grade 4 in 2 or more subjects at GCSE (including Maths or English Language), plus subject specific requirements: Grade 7 at GCSE Maths

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
