A Level Maths provides students with a thorough grounding in the mathematical tools and techniques that are often required in the workplace. Students also develop logic and reasoning skills which are transferable to, and recognised by non-mathematical areas. A Level Maths consists of six units:  Pure Core 1  Pure Core 2  Pure Core 3  Pure Core 4  Decision 1  Statistics 1 The Four Pure Core units make up two thirds of the A Level qualification and provide techniques in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus which form the fundamental building blocks of the subject. Mathematical applications form the remainder of the qualification and fall into two key areas:  Decision – networks, algorithms, sorting  Statistics – probability, data handling, testing hypotheses

7 GCSEs Grade ‘A*-C’ including Mathematics at Grade A*/A and minimum of C grade in English Language

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
