What the college says
Candidates will be studying the law from its creation to its application. They will gain an understanding of how laws are created and the influences on this as well as the people and professionals involved in its application. From this they will move to the application of laws relating to Assault, Battery, ABH and GBH, gaining problem solving and analytical skills along the way. This will be supplemented by the study of civil law and the Tort of Negligence, covering when a duty of care is owed and how this duty may be breached. In the second year, the students will further their criminal law knowledge by exploring Murder and Manslaughter whilst also looking further at Negligence to understand claims for psychiatric damage and the vicarious liability of employers. Finally, gain an understanding of the rules surrounding contracts. This will cover formation, breach and discharge of contracts giving students knowledge they can use in their day to day life.

GCSE grade 5 in English and grade 4 in Maths

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
