What you need to get on

As well as 5 or more GCSEs at Grades 9 - 4 including English and Maths, you need a minimum of a Grade 6 in GCSE French. A strong interest in languages and a willingness to engage with French culture are also essential.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
