If you enjoyed learning languages at GCSE, then further study of languages at A level will give you the opportunity to learn useful, practical skills which you can apply in many situations in life, whether at work or at leisure. You can expect to develop a deeper understanding of the culture of your chosen language. An interest in developing your spoken language skills is vital, and students are encouraged to speak as much target language as possible. Languages open doors, and a language qualification will undoubtedly enhance the range of career opportunities and prospects in today’s global work environment. Students may choose to continue their study of languages at university, as a degree course or as part of another course, such as Business Studies, Engineering, Law or Accountancy to name but a few. A Modern Language qualification can lead to a wide range of career options, such as Business, Banking, Journalism, Law, Public Relations and Engineering .
