It will also appeal if you thrive on argument and debate. Why study English Literature at A Level? Studying English Literature: • Encourages you to develop an interest and enjoyment in literary studies through reading widely, independently and critically. • Provides you with an introduction to the traditions of English Literature and critical theory. • Introduces you to a wide range of literature from different cultures and perspectives.

What you need to get on

Standard Entry Requirements including GCSE Grade 5 or above in English Literature and GCSE Grade 5 or above in English Language. You must enjoy reading and relish the challenges presented by writers who are new to you.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
