What the college says

Language is constantly changing and evolving which makes it an interesting focus for study. In particular the wider contextual aspects that have led to these changes. This course will challenge you to question the foundations of English Language and the acquisition of language. This course is not heavily essay based, but will allow you to develop the skills that you may require for further study beyond A-Level.English Language A-Level is perfect for those students who have an interest in our language and enjoy communication in an oral and written form. This subject particularly complements other courses such as History, Performance Studies, Psychology and Sociology as they all focus on how and why language is used in different contexts. However, it is actually an incredibly versatile course as, through its emphasis on analysing how and why specialist texts have been written, along with considering their purpose and audience, it combines well with most other courses.
