What the college says
A Level English Language and Literature introduces you to a range of literary texts prose books scripts and poetry and non literary texts from different time periods social attitudes and cultures such as webpages advertisements and blogs. The course gives you the opportunity to develop independent approaches and to undertake individual paired and group work debates and a mini teach. This develops critical understanding in analysing the ways in which structure form and language shape meaning evaluating the significance of contextual factors in a range of different texts.
What you need to get on
5 GCSEs grade 9/A* 4/C including English Language English Literature and Maths. You will also be required to complete a GCSE to A Level Transition Project prior to enrolment to prepare you for A Level English Language and Literature.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
