Whether you are chatting to a friend, flicking through a magazine or simply sending somebody a text message, you are responding to and using the English Language. Depending on the situation and context, we all adapt our language choices to fit the purpose and audience. Most of us make these alterations subconsciously, but you can become a Language Detective and analyse how and why these changes occur.
What you need to get on
In addition to meeting the Sixth Form entry requirements (five A* - C grades at GCSE), students must have at least a Grade C in GCSE English Language.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
