English Language is suitable for candidates who are fascinated by the way individual identity is formed by language and how language forms identity in turn, want to understand how language has changed over time and, in doing so, reflects societal attitudes, are interested in reading a wide variety of material which considers the sociological and societal impact language has on different communities, are able to research and investigate topics that they find personally interesting, and want to further refine their writing style and are keen to discuss examples from the canon.

What you need to get on

Grade 6 in GCSE English (Language or Literature) and grade 6 in another humanity (e.g. RE, History or Geography). As well as these specific requirements you will also need to meet the general entry requirements for the Sixth form - please see website for further details.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
