A Level Eduqas Design and Technology: Product Design 603/1178/2 OBJECTIVES Identify and solve real problems by designing and making products or systems. Learners use creativity and imagination when applying iterative design processes to develop and modify designs, and to design and make prototypes that solve real world problems, considering their own and others’ requirements. SUBJECT STUDY REQUIREMENTS: • A critical understanding of the influences on DT, including cultural, economic, environmental, historical and social factors. • Be open to taking design risks, showing innovation and enterprise whilst considering their role as responsible designers. • Develop intellectual curiosity about the design and manufacture of products and systems, and their impact on daily life and the wider world. • Be able to think creatively, innovatively and critically through focused research and exploration of design opportunities arising from the requirements of users and clients. • Develop knowledge and experience of real world contexts for design and technological activity. • Develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of materials, components and processes associated with creating products that can be tested and evaluated in use. • Make informed design decisions through in-depth understanding of management and development of taking a design through to a prototype/product. • Work safely and skilfully to produce high-quality prototypes/products. • Draw on and apply a range of skills inclu

What you need to get on

Attainment 8 score of 60 (calculated from the best 8 GCSEs), including Maths & English Language to at least grade 5. Students must attain grade 6 in the subjects they will study. Where subjects haven't been studied at GCSE (e.g. Psychology, Economics etc.) then grade 6s in English and or Maths is expected. Students must attain grade 6 in Maths to study Sciences. Where students take more than one of Chemistry, Physics, Maths & Biology we recommend grade 7s in these subjects.
