Studying the Subject - The course aims to develop the students' interest in, and enthusiasm for, Chemistry. We enable students to build on their knowledge from GCSE and to develop an understanding of the different areas of Chemistry and how they relate to each other. Chemistry is a practical subject and many of the key ideas are reinforced through experiments. There is no practical examination, instead practical skills are assessed during short controlled tasks. There are some mathematical requirements associated with the course, but a good grade in Mathematics GCSE is sufficient to cope with the demands of the course - you will need a calculator!

What you need to get on

Students should have achieved 6 GCSEs at grade 9-6 to include Grade 7 in Chemistry or Combined Science and Grade 6 in Mathematics.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
