The OCR Chemistry A specification has been developed in consultation with the Royal Society of Chemistry, GlaxoSmithKline and many experienced teachers from centres throughout the country. The resulting course is divided into chemical topics, each containing different key concepts of chemistry. Once the key features of a chemical topic have been developed, applications are considered. Topics of study include: atoms and reactions, the Periodic Table, the synthesis of new types of substance in organic chemistry and controlling pollution and the planet's natural resources.

What you need to get on

You must have achieved at least a grade 6 in Chemistry or a 6-6 Combined Science Trilogy.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
