This course introduces you to some of the exciting areas of biology in the contemporary world and creates an awareness of the ethical, technological and economic aspects of the subject. It aims to develop an interest and enthusiasm for biology, including an interest in further study and careers in biology, encourage candidates to appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues, and how science contributes to the success of the economy and society. There will also be opportunity to develop a deeper appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of 'How Science Works'. Career pathways To gain access to vocational or academic courses in further or higher education such as: Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Medical Sciences, Dentistry, Heath Care Professions, Nursing, Veterinary Science, Animal Health, Agriculture, Ecology, Environmental Science and Psychology.

What you need to get on

Grade 6 in GCSE Science or Biology. A Minimum of one Grade 6 and one Grade 5 at GCSE English and Maths (either order).

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
